Proper care of your cutting board
When properly cared for an end grain cutting board is as safe and clean as any other cutting surface. Regular maintenance of a cutting board is important.
- A diluted bleach solution (5%) or antibacterial dish soap is best for disinfecting cutting boards
- To remove odors, rinse board and then rub with coarse salt and let stand for several minutes. Wipe the board and then rinse it clean. This procedure will also smooth out minor imperfections.
- Wooden boards should never be placed in a dishwasher or submerged for more than the time to rinse. This will affect the glue and the wood.
- To ensure long life, smooth finish and protect your investment, Clapham's Beeswax Salad Bowl Finish is highly recommended and should be applied monthly (available in the Shop Online section).
